Winston-Salem Greek Festival coming up

"Winston-Salem, N.C. – The iconic Winston-Salem Greek Festival is returning May 15, 16 & 17. The weekend long festival will be held at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 435 Keating Drive.  Hours are Friday & Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m., & Sunday 11:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.  During festival hours, take-out orders are encouraged by calling (336) 765-FOOD.

The day’s events
include traditional Greek food & pastries, music and dancing.  Inside events include church tours, the Agora Greek vendor’s market, cooking demonstrations and a raffle booth for a chance to win (2) round-trip tickets to Greece, among other prizes.  Various children’s games and activities will also be available.

Admission to the festival is $1.00.  Children 12 and under are free! Meal tickets are $13 including beverage.  Festival attendees can save the $1 admission fee by purchasing the meal ticket before the festival.  For pre-ticket sales, call (336)765-7145.

“A recent building addition to the church’s Hellenic Center will be put to good use for festival goers.” said Chris Karahalios, chairman of this year’s festival. “We’ve added a balanced addition to our building that will serve many purposes going forward.  During the festival, this new space will accommodate our take-out service.  We are excited because take-out will be indoors and not under a tent.  This will allow us improved quality of service.

“It takes our entire congregation to support, produce and volunteer for the festival. Are we are delighted each year to invite Winston-Salem and surrounding communities to sample Greek culture, even if just for a few days,” said Father Demetri Kangelaris.  “We are so proud that a portion of the funds raised from each festival are put back into our community.” said Fr. Kangelaris.

A portion of proceeds benefit Brenner Children’s Hospital, the Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina and Metropolis Youth Ministries.

Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church is located at 435 Keating Dr. For directions and more information call (336) 765-3663 or visit the church website www.wsgoc.org."
