WOMEN’S RESOURCE CENTER OF GREENSBORO RAISES OVER $100,000 AT MEN CAN COOK FUNDRAISER

"Men Can Cook, the signature fundraiser for the Women’s Resource Center of Greensboro, set a new record recently. With the support of over 50 community ‘chefs’ preparing their signature dishes, attendees participating in a silent auction and with the support of numerous Corporate Sponsors the event raised over $100,000.

This year’s event was held in celebration of the agency’s 20th anniversary of service to women and families in the community. The event included musical entertainment from both Wally West and The Easy Greens, who played a mixture of original and ‘old’ tunes to the delight of the crowd.

“The Women’s Resource Center is proud and honored to have the longtime support of Chris Barbee/Oppenheimer; local men who are ‘famous in their own kitchens’ and so many local businesses who provide an affordable and unique shopping opportunity for our guests” said Ashley Brooks, Executive Director.

All proceeds from the event support the WRC’s mission: to promote the self-reliance of women by assessing needs, providing services and acting as a gateway to community resources. WRC is a non-profit agency which served over 9,000 women in our community last year and provides strategic leadership through collaboration and partnerships within the community. "
