30th Annual Shoppers’ Day Scheduled for December 3

"GREENSBORO, NC (November 23, 2015) – The Greensboro Mayor’s Committee for Persons with Disabilities is holding its 30th anniversary Shoppers’ Day event from 9 am to 12 noon on Thursday, December 3 at the Four Seasons Town Centre, 410 Four Seasons Blvd. Volunteers from high schools and Guilford County organizations, as well as local residents, host shoppers with varying abilities. Mayor Nancy Vaughan, along with Dr. Jane Fernandes, president of Guilford College, will open the event to welcome volunteers and shoppers.

This event emphasizes the importance of inclusion, empathy, acceptance, and compassion while allowing volunteers to gain valuable insight from persons with disabilities. Volunteers have a chance to meet a peer, become aware of obstructions, both physical and attitudinal, that people with disabilities face and overcome daily.

The shopping trip also features free entertainment performed by persons with disabilities, refreshments, a visit with Santa and free gift wrapping to shoppers with disabilities.
