Greensboro Among 2015 Best Cities for Black Entrepreneurs

"The cities of Greensboro/High Point together have been  ranked 55 out of more than 350 US metro areas on their ability to provide the best opportunity for success for African American business entrepreneurs.

“Area educational institutions such as NC A&T State University and Bennett College have been the stepping stone for many young black entrepreneurs,” says Gwen Carter, coordinator of the City of Greensboro’s Minority and Women’s Business Enterprise (MWBE) program. “And through our MWBE program, the City provides minorities equal opportunity to participate in all aspects of City contracting and purchasing programs. Together, as a community, we strive to provide education and technical assistance to minority- and women-owned firms so they can they can not only succeed, but also thrive.”


The City’s MWBE recently sponsored the first Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week in Greensboro, hosting networking opportunities, workshops and a luncheon and produced a series of workshops on MWBE-related issues."
