Triad Goodwill CEO Gorham to Retire after 33 years

"GREENSBORO, NC – The Board of Directors of Goodwill Industries of Central North Carolina, Inc. (Triad Goodwill) announces that Richard J. Gorham has chosen to retire as CEO effective January 6, 2017.   The executive board will conduct a search for the next CEO with Goodwill Industries International, Inc.

“Richard has been an outstanding leader and CEO.  His unique combination of strategic and operating skills, plus his commitment to our mission, employees, customers and stakeholders has redefined Goodwill Industries of Central North Carolina and led to an entirely new and better way of serving the communities in which it operates,” said Charles E. Judy, Jr., chairman of the board for Goodwill Industries of Central North Carolina, Inc.

Under Gorham’s leadership, Triad Goodwill has become a leader within the Goodwill movement. When he first came on board in 1983, the organization was operating in the red and serving only a handful of people. Gorham built the organization into what it is today, employing more than 350 people, providing services to 16,954 people last year, and pumping nearly $60 million dollars back into the local economy.

For the past 15 years, Triad Goodwill has been recognized for operating in the top 10 of the 165 autonomous Goodwill organizations across North America. This ranking is measured per capita with operational capacities in several key categories including mission outcomes, retail sales, donation procurement, and employee tenure, to name a few.

“The succession plan we have in place will keep Triad Goodwill operating smoothly so it can continue its work as the recognized leader for helping people develop the work skills necessary to successfully integrate into the competitive labor market,” said Chairman Judy.

Triad Goodwill Announces 2016-2017 Board of Directors

"GREENSBORO, NC – Goodwill Industries of Central North Carolina, Inc. (Triad Goodwill) announces their 2016-2017 Board of Directors. The nonprofit agency is headquartered in Greensboro and provides free services for the un- and underemployed at seven career development centers with funds earned in their 20 stores throughout Alamance, Caswell, Guilford, Randolph and Rockingham Counties.

Officers for the next fiscal year are:

Triad Goodwill Helps the Homeless This Holiday Season

Employees Donate Supplies for Toiletry Kits

"Triad Goodwill employees are giving back this holiday season. They collected donations of toiletries, hats, gloves, scarves and socks for kits to distribute at shelters in their five county service area. Triad Goodwill employees have assembled more than 100 kits so far and will finish the assembly process on Monday morning, Dec. 21. Employees will then distribute the kits to shelters in Alamance, Caswell, Guilford, Randolph and Rockingham Counties in North Carolina.

Each holiday season, Triad Goodwill collects donations for other local non-profits at their company holiday breakfast. This year, their social committee (recently renamed Team B.A.M.M.), chose area homeless shelters. Team B.A.M.M. stands for Buy-In, Appreciation, Motivation and Mission.

Triad Goodwill thanks the Greensboro Grasshoppers for their generous contribution for the purchase of additional supplies for the kits, as well as Carrie Crotts, who assembled 15 bags as part of a civics project at Ledford High School in Davidson County.

Voting Open for Ugly Holiday Sweater Contest

"Voting is now open on Facebook for Triad Goodwill’s DIY Ugly Holiday Sweater Contest. The first place prize is $250 Visa gift card and there is still time to submit your ugly creation. Entries are being accepted through noon on December 14 at contest@triadgoodwill.org or Facebook Messenger. See rules at iLoveGoodwill.org/Holiday to enter. The public can vote now by “liking” their favorite sweaters on Triad Goodwill’s Facebook page until noon on December 18. Contestants are encouraged to enter early to give voters more time to see and like their photo. Entrants may also share the photo album to encourage their Facebook Friends to vote for their Ugly Holiday Sweater look.

On December 18, a panel of judges will select the top three Ugly Holiday Sweaters from the 10 submissions with the most Facebook votes. Judges include the winner of Triad Goodwill’s employee sweater contest and representatives of area media outlets. Prizes are:

1st Place: $250 VISA gift card

2nd Place: $100 Triad Goodwill gift card

3rd Place: $50 Triad Goodwill gift card

To be eligible to win, entries must include receipts showing at least 75% of items used to create the Ugly Sweater were purchased at Triad Goodwill stores in Alamance, Caswell, Guilford, Randolph and Rockingham Counties, North Carolina. Ugly Sweater designers can mix and match materials from any of the departments in Triad Goodwill stores to create a one-of-a-kind look. Individual and group photos are eligible and you may submit multiple photos with an entry, but can only win once.
