"Theatre Art Galleries of High Point, NC is pleased to announce
a Juried Invitational Art Exhibit titled “THE
BICYCLE: Art Meets Form” opening Sept.5 and on view until Oct.
3.
This is the second consecutive year for the exhibit and it will be held in
conjunction with the High Point Cycling Classic (and the USA Cycling 2014 Smart
Choice Professional Criterium National Championships). The Opening Reception
will be held Friday, September 5th from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. and is open to the
public. Theatre Art Galleries is located in downtown High Point at 220 E.
Commerce Ave., in High Point, NC. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday from
12:00-5:00 p.m.
The exhibition will include 46 pieces by 40 artists from
across the U.S. and around the world and all of the art relates in some way to
bicycles or cycling. Work juried into the show by Kristy Thomas (Gallery
Curator at the Center for Visual Artists in Greensboro, NC) will be coming from
artists in Bristol, England: Paris, France: Massachusetts, Maryland, New
Mexico, Arizona, as well as a number of regional and local artists. This
exciting collection includes works in oil, acrylics, pastels, mixed media,
linocut prints, etchings, assemblages, encaustics, photography, and a short
film. In addition, there are a number of three dimensional works constructed
from a variety of materials including recycled bicycle parts. Prizes will be
awarded during the Opening Reception on September 5th for First Place: $1000, Second Place: $500, and Third Place: $250.
