Four Winston-Salem Police Officers put on "Administrative Duty" after arrested man dies

"Winston-Salem Police Officers responded to a reported discharging firearm at 4404 Old Rural Hall Rd.  Upon arrival, Officers located a subject matching the description provided by the reporting party. While attempting to detain the subject, later identified as Travis Nevelle Page, a brief struggle occurred and one of the Officers deployed department issued oleoresin capsicum (pepper spray).  Upon gaining control of Mr. Page and placing him in handcuffs, he became unresponsive.  Officers began life saving efforts and requested emergency medical services.  Personnel with Forsyth County Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported Mr. Page to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.  A handgun was located on Mr. Page prior to him being transported to the hospital.

As a standard practice by the Winston-Salem Police Department, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NCSBI) was requested and responded to the scene.  The NCSBI is the primary investigative Agency on this investigation and any questions regarding this incident should be referred to them at 336-256-1362.  The Professional Standards Division will also be conducting an administrative investigation into this incident. 

The following Officers were involved in this incident:  Corporal Robert Fenimore, Officer Christopher Doub, Officer Austin Conrad and Officer Jacob Tuttle.

Corporal Robert Fenimore
Corporal Robert Fenimore is a 20 year veteran with the Winston-Salem Police Department and is assigned to the Field Services Bureau, Patrol Division.  He has been placed on Administrative Duty while the investigation is conducted, which is standard procedure.

Officer Christopher Doub
Officer Christopher Doub is a 22 year veteran with the Winston-Salem Police Department and is assigned to the Field Services Bureau, Patrol Division.  He has been placed on Administrative Duty while the investigation is conducted, which is standard procedure.

Officer Austin Conrad






Officer Austin Conrad is a 3 year veteran with the Winston-Salem Police Department and is assigned to the Field Services Bureau, Patrol Division.  He has been placed on Administrative Duty while the investigation is conducted, which is standard procedure.

Officer Jacob Tuttle 
Officer Jacob Tuttle is a 1 year veteran with the Winston-Salem Police Department and is assigned to the Field Services Bureau, Patrol Division.  He has been placed on Administrative Duty while the investigation is conducted, which is standard procedure.
