"Greensboro Farmers Curb Market, 501 Yanceyville St., will host "Gritty Blues”, April 25, 2015 from 8-11:30 am, an event honoring southern favorites staples, grits with a side of blues!  YES! Weekly is a sponsor of the event. We will serve Old Mill of Guilford Grits with a variety of savory and sweet toppings from market vendors including shrimp from  George Smith's NC Seafood, bacon, sausages, kale, scallions, spring onions, butter, cheese, garlic scapes, and honey.  Tracy Lamothe, owner of Blue Spoon Cooking School, will be the guest chef for the day.   

Enjoy the sounds of Peter May, Piedmont Blues Preservation Society’s 2014 Solo Blues Challenge winner who takes the stage from 9:30 am - 11:30 am.

The cost of the event is $5.00 per bowl with proceeds benefiting Greensboro Farmers Curb Market.  Bring a blanket or lawn chair and spend the morning at the Market!  

Peter May, the son of a Dixieland-style, trumpet-blaring preacher and a hymn-singing, piano-playing teacher, plays original and classic blues, and gospel. Emphasis is on his North Carolina Piedmont style.  Trips to the Delta literally and metaphorically, infuse his personal style with an edge of raw desolation. His classically trained hands mete out precise fingerstyle blues, while his voice belts out something between a holler and a howl.

Gritty Blues is a collaboration to help raise awareness of local foods and music in our area.

Greensboro Farmers Curb Market Hosts Apple Pancake Day on Saturday, Nov. 1st from 8 AM til 12 PM

"Greensboro, Oct. 17, 2014 – The Greensboro Farmers Curb Market, 501 Yanceyville St., is serving up apple pancakes as a part of our Apple Pancake Day. The pancakes will be prepared by Chef Alex Amoroso of Cheesecakes by Alex, a regular vendor at the market.

Customers will also be able to sample a wide variety of mountain-grown apples that are available in the market.

Greensboro Farmers Curb Market Moves To Aycock Middle School During A & T Homecoming Saturday Oct. 25, 2014

"The Greensboro Farmers Curb Market will make a temporary move to Aycock Middle School Cafeteria located at 811 Cypress Street on Saturday Oct. 25, 7 am - 12 pm, as N.C. A & T celebrates their Homecoming.

The market at Aycock Middle School will operate at normal hours 7 a.m. - 12 p.m. offering a variety of fresh produce, baked goods, fresh eggs, and locally produced meat. There will be plenty of parking located off the Yanceyville Street side of the school.

Enjoy live music from the very talented Laura Jane Vincent all morning long.

The Greensboro Farmers Curb Market will offer SNAP/EBT during this move.

Applications Now Available for Greensboro Farmers Curb Market “MADE 4 the Holidays” Scheduled for Sun., Nov. 16 and Sun., Dec. 7

"Greensboro Farmers Curb Market (501 Yanceyville Street, Greensboro, NC 27405) is accepting applications for the community’s favorite holiday shows with an emphasis on quality, local handcrafted artisan goods.  The two events features arts, crafts and packaged artisan food items for holiday gift giving.

Gate City Trolley Debuts at Greensboro Farmers Market

"Be among the first in Greensboro to experience a funtastic free ride on a new trolley bus service. It's a free five minute ride to the Greensboro Farmers Curb Market, where you can pick up fresh fruits, veggies, deli spreads, and other lunch items to enjoy on site or to go. 

The trolley was hand built and features wood accents on the exterior and interior seating, and ornate brass polls, which harken back to the 1920s style. Greensboro Farmers Curb Market Hosts Farmer Appreciation Day on Saturday, September 6th, from 8 AM til 12:00 PM

"The Greensboro Farmers Curb Market is hosting its annual Farmer Appreciation Day to show the community’s support of local farmers, food, and friends. Join us for a Southern traditional breakfast of eggs, grits, fried potatoes & onions, biscuits, sausage gravy, red-eye gravy, sliced tomatoes, and a choice of sausage or country ham.

Breakfast is being prepared by chef Alex Amoroso of Cheesecakes by Alex. A plate costs $8, and proceeds are to benefit the Greensboro Farmers Curb Market.

Tea Hugger and Café al Grano will be out on the lawn with beverages for purchase.

There will be live music from 8 AM til 11 AM performed by Torn Corners, a Burlington-based acoustic band covering blues/reggae/rock classics of the past 60 years.

GRITS WITH A SIDE OF BLUES

Logie plays some blues at the Gritty Blues event Sat., May 10 at the Greensboro Farmers Market in downtown Greensboro. The GFM is located on Yanceyville Street across from the old War Memorial Stadium. The event featured Logie as a side dish to some wonderful grits being served.
